💻 The Freedom of Running Your Own Business (And the Truth No One Talks About)

Let’s be honest: working for yourself sounds like the dream, right?

🌍 Work from anywhere.
☕ Set your own hours.
💸 Earn what you’re worth.
🚫 No more commuting, office politics, or asking for permission to take a holiday.

I mean… yes, all of that is real. And if you’re in the travel world like I am, it’s even better — because your “work” can literally revolve around exploring new places and helping others do the same.

But let’s also be clear:

This is not the lazy girl’s shortcut to six figures.

Running your own business — whether it’s in travel, coaching, or any other industry — takes grit. It takes consistency. It takes a mindset shift from “employee” to “CEO.” And it takes a lot of work behind the scenes that no one claps for.

So what’s the trade-off?

When you build your own business, especially something like a travel brand or team, you trade security for possibility.

You give up the predictability of a paycheck for the ability to earn without limits.
You trade office politics for personal growth.
You say goodbye to the 9-to-5… and say hello to the 24/7 dream you care way more about.

It’s not always easy — but it is worth it.

What freedom really means (from someone who’s lived both lives)

For me, freedom doesn’t mean doing nothing all day. It means:

  • Picking who I work with (spoiler: I don’t miss passive-aggressive team emails).
  • Having time to walk the dogs without checking the clock.
  • Building something that’s mine — not someone else’s dream.
  • Saying “yes” to travel and “no” to burnout.

And yes, I still have tough days. There are moments where I wonder if I’m doing it right, or if I should just get a “normal job” again. But then I remember: I’ve already done that life. I didn’t want to stay there.

Is it right for you?

If you’re reading this and thinking, “I want that kind of freedom too,” then maybe this life is for you. But come in with your eyes open. Don’t expect magic. Expect progress.

Start messy. Stay consistent. And remember why you started.

And if you want help figuring it out — especially if you’ve ever dreamed about making travel part of your lifestyle and income — I’m here. That’s literally what I do.
